PREP SPORTS: Boys Basketball Ready for League

While Mark Keppel High School girls varsity basketball is a favorite to challenge for a league title in recent years, the boys varsity basketball team at Mark Keppel High School also is having good seasons and hopes to win league also. Updated Jan. 4, 2016

Boys teams from Mark Keppel and Alhambra have overall records of 8-6 to lead Almont League teams. They are followed by Bell Gardens 4-8, Montebello 4-10, San Gabriel 3-9 and Schurr 3-10.
A few recent scores were Carter 54 Montebello 48, Blair 64 Alhambra 53, Keppel 67 Sherman Oaks CES 44.
In Mission Valley League boys varsity basketball, Gabrielino easily leads the way with an overall record of 11-3, followed by El Monte 9-7, Marshall (Pasadena) 4-4, Arroyo 6-7, Mountain View 3-7, South El Monte 3-8, and Rosemead 2-6.
Recent scores were Gabrielino 72 Aquinas 63, South El Monte 68 Duarte 25, Morro Bay 60 El Monte 49, Newport Harbor 76 El Monte 44.

Updated:  Cantwell Sacred Heart of Camino Real League is 8-4 overall and hosts Renaissance Academy on Jan. 5, at 7:30 p.m. Bosco Tech of Sante Fe League is 10-4 overall. San Gabriel Academy of Westside League is 6-4 overall and plays at Price on Jan. 7, at 7 p.m.
