PREP SPORTS: Cantwell Sacred Heart has 2 of 3 Local Teams in CIF State Basketball Playoffs Starting March 9

  Three local high school basketball teams made it to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Basketball Championship playoffs, starting with the Southern California Regionals on March 9.


  Local teams in are girls teams from Cantwell Sacred Heart High School and Mark Keppel High School, and the boys team from Cantwell Sacred Heart High School.

  Cantwell Sacred Heart boys varsity basketball team is ranked 2nd in the CIF State Basketball Division 2 Playoffs and opens Southern California Regionals play on March 9, at 7:30 p.m. by hosting 15th ranked El Camino Real. The winner plays the winner of 7th ranked Lemoore and 10th ranked Long Beach Poly on Saturday, March 12, at 6 p.m.

  In CIF Girls State Division 4 Basketball Playoffs, 6th ranked Cantwell Sacred Heart (25-7 overall) hosts 11th ranked North Hollywood (18-4 overall) on March 9, at 6 p.m. The winner plays the winner of 3rd ranked St. Paul and 14th ranked South Gate on March 12, at 6 p.m. 

  Mark Keppel girls team, ranked 8th in Division 3 and 23-8 overall, hosts 9th ranked Garfield, 24-8 overall, on March 9, at 7 p.m. The winner plays the winner of top ranked Newbury Park and 16th ranked Immanuel, on March 12, at 6 p.m.
