PREP BASKETBALL: Poly Beats Rosemead in Title Game

  Rosemead --  Pasadena Polytechnic High School won the Rosemead High School Girls Varsity Holiday Classic Tournament Championship by a score of 41-36 against host Rosemead on Dec. 3, 2016.

  Poly's Sarah Johnson scored 14 points to lead her team to the championship, while Kristal Espinoza led Rosemead in scoring with 18 points. Johnson was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while Poly's Alexis Pappachan, and Rosemead's Espinoza and teammate Amy Ung also were among those players named to the All Tournament team.

    In other tournament games, Diamond Ranch won 59-30 against Bishop Conaty Loretto to win third place, Immaculate Heart defeated San Bernardino in a thrilling game, 36-32, to win the Consolation Championship, and Hoover (Glendale) won 38-24 against Baldwin Park to win Seventh Place.
