PREP BASKETBALL: Rosemead Boys Win MVL Game

El Monte defeated Rosemead 31-29 in girls varsity basketball game on Dec. 22.

           ROSEMEAD -- Rosemead High School boys varsity basketball team won easily 60-29 against visiting El Monte High School in a Mission Valley League (MVL) game on Dec. 22, 2016, at Rosemead.

  El Monte High School girls varsity basketball team defeated Rosemead 31-29 in a come-from-behind win. Rosemead led 27-20 in the fourth quarter.

  In the boys game, Rosemead was led by Ivan Ip with 13 points, Steven Mach with 12 points, six rebounds, and three steals, Sean Duong with 11 points and three steals, and Henry Le with seven points.

  Devin Romero led El Monte with 10 points.

  In the girls Mission Valley League game, El Monte improved to 2-0 while Rosemead lost its second close game to fall to 0-2 in league.

  Giselle Alarcon led El Monte with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Krystal Espinoza led Rosemead with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

  Rosemead boys play next in league on Jan. 9, 2017 at Rosemead against Marshall (Pasadena), while Rosemead girls play next in league at Marshall on Jan. 9.
