PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: 8 Local Teams Make CIFSS Playoffs

  California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section (CIFSS) boys varsity basketball playoff pairings were announced on Feb. 12, 2017 by divisions. All playoff games until finals are at 7 p.m. unless prior approval is granted by both schools and CIFSS. This is the first year of parity for the divisions and also teams have to be automatic qualifiers from their league or have a .500 overall record to be considered as an at-large team. There are 33 first round byes among the divisions due to lack of teams with a .500 overall record.

  In 1AA Division, Cantwell Sacred Heart will play at La Mirada on Feb. 15, and the winner plays on Feb. 17, at Temecula Valley, who has a first round bye.

  In 2A Division, Mark Keppel will play at Saugus on Feb. 15, with the winner playing on Feb. 17, at Dos Pueblos, who has a first round bye.

  In 3AA Division, Gabrielino hosts Glenwood on Feb. 15, and on Feb. 17 the winner plays the winner of Royal and Whittier Christian.  San Gabriel Academy plays Feb. 15 at Capistrano Valley Christian, with the winner playing on Feb. 17, against the winner of La Serna and Righetti. Schurr hosts Buena on Feb. 15, then on Feb. 17, the winner plays the winner of Ocean View and Glendora.

  In 3A Division, Alhambra is at Twentynine Palms on Feb. 15, and on Feb. 17, the winner plays the winner of Arroyo Grande and West Covina.

  In 4AA Division, San Gabriel has a first round bye and then on Feb. 17,  hosts the winner of Rio Mesa and Segerstrom.

  In 4A Division, Rosemead travels on Feb. 15, to Salesian and on Feb. 17, the winner plays at Milken Community.
