PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: 5 Local Teams Set For CIFSS Playoffs

  California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section on Feb. 12, 2017 announced girls varsity basketball playoff pairings for all divisions. All playoff games until finals are at 7 p.m. unless both schools and CIFSS grants approval of a different game time.This is the first year for parity in the divisions, with automatic qualifiers from each league and then teams must have a .500 overall record to be considered for an at-large entry in the playoffs. There are 57 first round byes total among the divisions due to lack of teams with a .500 overall record.

  In Division 1AA, Mark Keppel got a first round bye and on Feb. 18, will host the winner of Crescenta Valley and St. Anthony.

  In Division 1A, Cantwell Sacred Heart will be at Patriot on Feb. 16, with the winner on Feb. 18, playing the winner of Esperanza and Tesero.

  In Division 3AA, Gabrielino has a first round bye and then on Feb. 18, hosts Glendora.(it was reported earlier the game was at Glendora, the game is at Gabrielino.

  In Division 5AA, Rosemead has a first round bye on Feb. 16, hosts La Reina on Feb. 18, and on Feb. 22, the winner plays the winner of St. Monica Academy and winner of Wild Card A game Heritage Christian and Workman.

  In Division 6, Ramona Convent hosts Hillcrest Christian (Thousand Oaks) in Wild Card A game on Feb. 14, with the winner playing at Rolling Hills Prep on Feb. 16.
