class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Duenas (Alhambra) and Vu (Schurr) Lead Teams to Almont League Title

  SOUTH EL MONTE -- Serena Duenas of Alhambra High School and Dustin Vu of Schurr High School won their Almont League cross country championship race with a first place finish which also helped lead their teams to Almont League team championship at Lake Legg park on Nov. 1, 2017.

  Alhambra won the girls varsity Almont League championship with 31 points (lowest score wins), Schurr was second with 44 points, San Gabriel was fifth with 126 points and Mark Keppel was sixth with 133 points.

class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Rosemead 2nd at MVL Cluster Meet

  Rosemead High School boys and girls varsity cross country teams recently finished in second place in the second of three Mission Valley League (MVL) cluster meets scheduled this season. The third cluster meet, MVL Finals, are scheduled for Oct. 31. A cluster meet is when only all MVL schools compete in the same race.

  Early on Saturday, April 9, 2016, the 22nd Annual Santa Anita Derby Day 5K (5,000 meters) people run/walk will kick off a world-class day of horse racing at the historic Santa Anita Race Track. Organizers expect to have more than 6,000 runners and walkers enjoy one of Southern California’s most picturesque and unique 5K people race courses that include a romp through the Los Angeles County Arboretum followed by a tunnel into the manicured infield of the Santa Anita Race Track and a photo finish captured on the infield big screen of the historic horse racing site.

class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Mission Valley League Finals Results

             San Dimas --  Gabrielino and Rosemead high schools cross country teams on Nov. 2, 2016 competed at Bonelli Park here in Mission Valley League Finals to determine which league teams made the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section (CIFSS) Championship Prelims in Riverside. Gabrielino and Rosemead varsity boys and girls teams qualified for the CIFSS Championship Prelims.

class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" PREP RUNNING: Schurr HS Girls 2nd, Boys 3rd at Rosemead Cross Country Invite Day Two; 99 Schools Over 2 Days!

   ROSEMEAD -- Rosemead High School's 32nd Annual Cross Country Invitational smashed records for teams participating, 99 high schools, and runners who competed, 3,447 at the two-night event on Sept. 9-10, 2016. .

  Following up on Friday night's results in another story earlier on this web site, on Saturday night local team Schurr High School got second place in the junior girls race, while the senior boys team came in third place. 

  There were 1,851 runners competing Saturday by grade level (9, 10, 11, 12) and sweepstakes races with the three-mile race starting at Rosemead High School stadium, going through Rosemead Park next to the school, and then back to Rosemead High School to finish on the football field in front of about 2,000 cheering people.

class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" PREP SPORTS: Arroyo Sweeps XC Cluster Meet

South El Monte --Arroyo High School swept the boys and girls Mission Valley League (MVL) cross country “cluster meet” on Oct. 7 at Lake Legg in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. In the boy’s varsity race Arroyo won with a score of 18, and was followed by Gabrielino with 73 points for second place, South El Monte with 78 points for third place and Rosemead with 98 points for fourth place in the seven-team field.

class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" PREP SPORTS: 1,596 Runners Competed at Rosemead XC Invite, Day 1 Results, Day 2 is Saturday, Sept. 10

     ROSEMEAD-- Forty-two high school cross country teams competed in day one Friday night of the two-day Rosemead High School 32nd Annual Cross Country Invitational with day two set for Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016.

   First race on Sept. 10, starts at 5:10 p.m. and nine more races follow with the last race starting at 9:25 p.m. Rosemead has brought in large portable lighting trailers to light the way for the runners through Rosemead High School and Rosemead Park next to the school when it gets dark. The race is three miles.

class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" PREP SPORTS: Huge Rosemead Cross Country Invite Includes 99 High Schools on Sept. 9-10

Rosemead High School's Annual Cross Country Invitational at Rosemead High School and Rosemead Park next to the high school "at night" has grown to a record 99 high schools this year, announced Meet Director Fidel Dominguez.

  The meet has free admission and some of the top boys and girls cross country teams in California will be competing at Rosemead.

class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" Local Women Help PCC Qualify for State Finals

The Pasadena City College women’s cross country team continued its impressive team season by taking 13th place at the Southern California Championships Friday at Ontario’s Guasti Regional Park. It is the highest team SoCal finish by the Lancers since taking 12th in the 2003 meet, and the performance allowed the Lancers to qualify as a team for the CCCAA State Championships.
