PREP FOOTBALL: Keppel Returns to Gridiron Friday

ALHAMBRA -- The Keppel football team will return to the gridiron this Friday night after cancelling its last two games due to not having enough players, a Keppel school official said on Monday.
Heather Semelmacher, Keppel's athletic director, said while the team was forced to cancel its Sept. 23 and Oct. 6 games as it did not have enough players, the Aztecs resume their season at 7 p.m. on Friday night, hosting Bell Gardens.

She added the season, which ends Nov. 4, is not going to be cancelled.
Keppel had lost its first four games before being cancelled, scoring just one touchdown.
The team has been plagued by low interest and losing records for years.
Keppel is not the local football team that is enduring difficult times. The Blair football team in Pasadena has suspended its football program for the remainder of the season due to low participation and concerns over student safety, according to a story in Tuesday's Pasadena Star-News.

Blair had only 20 players on its varsity roster and seven were freshmen, according to Hilda Ramirez-Horvath, a spokeswoman for the district.
