Quarterback Aaron Cantu threw four touchdown passes in the game for the Spartans (1-2) to lead the team to victory, pleasing coach Ben Negrete as they picked up their first win of the season.
"Obviously, it was a great victory to be able to come back from behind," he said. "We played the last four minutes (of the game) like this team is capable of playing."
Negrete added he thinks the team can keep its winning ways going the rest of the season now.
"It sure feels like a turning point," he said. Negrete also said defensive back and wide receiver Alexander Castro had a terrific game.
"(Castro) played well for us on offense and defense and caught a touchdown pass for us in the third quarter."
And what do the Spartans have to look forward to this Thursday night at Cal High in Whittier?
"It's a short week, so it's a difficult preparation week, but I think we'll try and take some of this momentum there the kids hopefully built up," Negrete said. "The kids feel good about themselves. It should be an exciting ballgame."
