ALHAMBRA – The Keppel softball team let a 5-4, sixth-inning lead get away as the Aztecs fell to visiting Bell Gardens 8-5 on Tuesday in the Almont League opener. A two-run homer by shortstop April Villalobos with two outs in the top of the sixth gave Bell Gardens the lead. The Lancers (5-11, 1-0 AL) would seal the win with two runs in the top of the seventh by stringing together five singles.

ALHAMBRA – The Keppel softball team fell behind early and never got the bats going against visiting Covina, losing 15-0 in five innings on Monday in a nonleague game.
Pitcher Fiona Zemon took the loss for Keppel (3-6), giving up 12 runs on eight hits, walking one and striking out three in 3 1/3 innings of work.
Covina scored twice in the top of the first inning on a single, three errors and a wild pitch. The Colts added three more runs in the third inning on a single, double, triple and ground out before striking for 10 runs in the fourth inning.

class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" PREP SOFTBALL: Aztecs Lose to Pasadena. 10 - 0

PASADENA – The Keppel softball team was roughed up for three first-inning runs and fell to host Pasadena 10-0 on Tuesday in a five-inning nonleague game.
Starter Fiona Zemon took the loss for the Aztecs (2-3). Zemon threw 4 1/3 innings, allowing nine runs on nine hits, while striking out two and walking two.
Zemon pitched a perfect second inning, recording a strikeout, and got out of a jam in the in the third inning.

class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" PREP SPORTS: San Gabriel Girls Softball Leads Area Schools with Wins

 

  San Gabriel High School varsity girls softball team led local schools with two wins recently in March 2016, defeating Mountain View 15-1 and Bellflower 6-5. Other winners were Ramona Convent 9-3 against Mayfield, Montebello 5-0 over Sierra Vista, Schurr won 5-2 against  Wilson, and Gabrielino won 11-0 against Marshall.
