class="gkFeaturedItemTitle" USA 2020 Olympic Trials Awarded to Mt. SAC

  INDIANAPOLIS - The U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field will return to the Los Angeles area in 2020, with Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) in Walnut, California, hosting the 10-day event on June 19-28, United States Track & Field (USATF), headquartered here, announced recently.

  USATF's board of directors voted to award the Olympic Trials to Mt. SAC based upon its desire to take the sport's biggest event to the country's second-largest media market; the historical strength of the sport in the Los Angeles area; Mt. SAC's record of hosting elite track events that produce top performances; and a $62 million upgrade to Mt. SAC's Hilmer Lodge Stadium that will enable the venue to expand to a seating capacity of more than 21,000.

  Tammy Vien, a senior hurdler from Rosemead High School, ran her best time of 14.35 seconds in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Masters Meet at Cerritos College on May 27, 2016. She missed qualifying for  state championships as she finished seventh place and top six places qualify.

  San Gabriel High School's Sheri Viraphandeth won the long jump at 15'8' and placed third in the 100 meters in 13.26 and 200 meters in 27.79, and Rosemead's Tammy Vien ran a personal best and fast early season time of 14.9 to win the 100 meters hurdles and also ran 46.76 to win the 300 meters hurdles to lead local athletes at Rosemead High School 5th Annual Track & Field Invitational on March 11-12, 2016 at Rosemead's state-of-the-art all-weather track with built-in timing and video scoreboard.
